Weddings

Wedding Videography is all about telling a story though motion. This is the inherent difference between videography and photography. Photography captures a moment in time. Video, however, captures fluid motion. And this is where a skilled and talented editor is worth his weight in gold. Without skillful editing, the video becomes a meaningless jumble of random events. But a talented editor will shape and handcraft that video into a creation as unique as the individuals who are the subjects.

There are many ways to shape a story. Among them are graphics, special effects such as slow motion and soft focus, animated titles and photographs, and mixing color with black and white. There has been a trend in wedding videography to apply special effects for their own sake without regard to whether they add or detract from the story. Often such effects are overused leaving the overall impression that the viewer has just been to a carnival.

Miller Multimedia Group (MMG) does not subscribe to this method of filming. Although we do use special effects, animated titles and transitions to move the story along, our goal is cinematic excellence. There is a reason you don't see all the effects and transitions that often appear in home movies. They cheapen the film and destroy what the director is trying to achieve. In every MMG-produced video, each nuance is designed to enhance your unique story.

Okay, we've talked about the need for great editing. What about equipment to record the event? At a minimum, 3-chip professional digital cameras are needed. Weddings present a particular challenge to the videographer in that they often occur under far from ideal lighting conditions. Therefore, professional video cameras must be capable of capturing great images in low-light conditions. All cameras used by Miller Multimedia Group meet this requirement. Furthermore, weddings cannot be adequately covered with just one camera. That's why Miller Multimedia uses a minimum of two cameras for ceremony coverage. And because the scene is always changing, our cameras have an operator with each camera.

Sound is no less important than video quality. Turn the sound off while watching a movie and see what happens to your interest. To assure great sound quality, MMG uses UHF wireless microphones for best ceremony coverage so you can be sure of hearing your vows clearly. We also place other microphones strategically around the ceremony location to insure total audio coverage.

The medium on which you receive your video is the final element in considering a videographer. Miller Multimedia Group uses DVD-R recordable media, the most widely compatible medium for storing and distributing your irreplaceable video. Remember, your video becomes a precious heirloom for generations yet to come.

What's the bottom line? Expect to pay between $1,000 and $10,000 for your wedding video. Can you get it cheaper? Certainly. Can you get a more cost-effective video other than from Miller Multimedia Group. Our many satisfied clients clearly say "No." Remember that the bitterness of poor quality remains long after low price is forgotten.
